REMSA Health recommends the following vaccines, particularly during the respiratory illness season (November through March) because we know that when a lot of people get a respiratory infection at the same time, it can overwhelm the healthcare and 9-1- 1 system.
Influenza vaccine for everyone six months and older.
COVID-19 for adults 65 and older, in consultation with your healthcare provider and people ages 6 months to 64 years in consultation with your healthcare provider emphasizing that the benefit is most favorable for individuals who are at increased risk for severe COVID-19 disease.
Pneumonia for people under 5 years or over 65, or if you have certain medical conditions. Unsure if that’s you? Talk to your provider.
RSV for adults over 75 and some between 60 and 74 with specific risk factors.
Schedule your vaccinations for October so you’re protected by the time germs are really circulating (December or January). Also, wash your hands, cover your cough, and stay home when you’re sick.
