REMSA Emergency Medical Dispatch and Ground Field Providers Named First Responder of the Year by Nevada Donor Network

Today we are honored to share that Nevada Donor Network (NDN) has recognized REMSA’s Emergency Medical Dispatch and Ground Field Providers Team with the 2020 First Responder of the Year Award. Each year, NDN recognizes the healthcare and community partners that contribute to their lifesaving and healing mission and we greatly appreciate that they chose to recognize such a vital part of our team for their work in a year like no other.

Care starts with the call. When you call 9-1-1 for a medical emergency, you are connected with a medically-trained professional who can provide potentially life-saving directions over the phone while you wait for REMSA to arrive at the scene. They include Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics who provide pre-arrival instructions to a caller that can include CPR, delivering a baby or removing an object from the throat of a choking child.

While not all life-saving efforts are successful, our medical dispatch and field provider team members understand that other lives can be positively impacted through tissue and ocular donation and are trained on how their emergency care can impact the donation process. In partnership with NDN, we are able to provide early notification from field responders to our dispatch staff about potential donors which results in more healing transplants for those in need. In turn, our team members can take something positive from what is otherwise a tragedy.

We are grateful for the partnership with Nevada Donor Network and even more so for the acknowledgment of First Responder of the Year.
