When It Matters Most

The Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority — REMSA — is the exclusive ground emergency medical services provider for Washoe County, Nevada and we serve an 11-state western region with our air ambulance program. We are a private, non-profit, fully-integrated, pre-hospital healthcare provider.

We have accountability to the Washoe County District Board of Health and a volunteer board of directors comprised of healthcare and business leadership from across the region. REMSA’s response times consistently meet or beat the requirements and it is renowned nationally for its quality, performance and innovation.

Regional Emergency Medical Service Authority (REMSA) was established in 1986 with only a handful of ambulances and staff. REMSA now has a fleet of 45 ambulances and is the busiest ambulance transportation company in the region.

Care Flight

Care Flight crews are highly-trained, specialized teams of medical and aviation professionals. With expanded scopes of practice and additional training, these crews are ready to provide life-saving, evidence-based healthcare on the ground and in the air.

Communications

REMSA Communications is known primarily to the community as the dispatchers who answer 9-1-1 medical emergency calls for all of Washoe County. They gives life-saving instructions, critical information, instructions, encouragement and support while callers await the arrival of EMS.

Special Teams

The Tactical Emergency Medical Support (TEMS) and Search and Rescue (SAR) teams are able to provide Advanced Medical Life Support alongside SWAT officers during law enforcement events or with the sheriff’s department during a variety of back-country, mine and swift water rescuers.

Fleet

REMSA operates 44 advanced life support ambulances including gurneys and stair chairs, as well as specialty and supervisor vehicles ensuring our entire fleet meets national safety standards and is ready to respond when needed.

Education

REMSA Education offers classes to meet the needs of the lay rescuer and the advanced clinician. As a private, licensed, post-secondary education center, REMSA has first-time paramedic National Registry test pass rates more than 20% higher than the national average.

Our Special Events team provides EMS services for more than 700 events per year, ranging from small gatherings to weeklong celebrations. This team is agile, flexible and offers specialized care and vehicles to match the needs of the event.
