The Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority (REMSA) is pleased to announce the addition of Aaron Abbott to its leadership team. Abbott will join the organization as Executive Director of EMS Operations.

Abbott has more than 18 years of emergency medical services (EMS) experience across a variety of roles. In his Executive Director position with REMSA, Abbott will have responsibility for all services related to the ground operations and 911 communications. This includes the more than 80,000 calls for service and 55,000 transports that REMSA manages every year. Abbott will also lead the fleet maintenance for REMSA’s 45 ground ambulances and 30 specialty vehicles, as well as oversee REMSA’s Logistics Department, its Emergency Management program and its special teams including Search and Rescue (SAR), Tactical Emergency Medical Services (TEMS), Special Events and Wildland Fire.

“We are excited to welcome Aaron back to REMSA in this new role,” said Dean Dow, president and CEO, REMSA. “Aaron’s leadership in our EMS division – the cornerstone of our organization – will ensure that compassionate, clinically-excellent mobile health care remains at the heart of what we do every day.”

Abbott is returning to REMSA after serving as the Executive Director of REDCOM – a joint powers authority in Santa Rosa, Calif. which provides centralized fire and EMS dispatching on behalf of 40 member agencies. Prior to that Abbott was the Director of Operational Services at REMSA where he also worked as a paramedic, was a member of REMSA’s TEMS team, a field training officer, a logistics manager, operations supervisor and EMS instructor. In addition to being a Nationally Registered Paramedic, Abbott holds several EMS-related certifications including Emergency Medical Dispatcher and Emergency Fire Dispatcher.
