REMSA and WCHD Announce the 24/7 Washoe County/REMSA COVID-19 Community Triage Line

triage line - call 775-328-2427

REMSA (Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority) and the Washoe County Health District (WCHD) have enhanced a 24/7 COVID-19 Community Triage Line to respond to the influx of calls related to COVID-19 (coronavirus).

The phone number is 775-328-2427. Select option 2 for a COVID-19 risk assessment.

Community members are encouraged to call this number and speak with non-medical call center representatives with their questions related to symptoms, exposure, social distancing, where to seek care and available community resources. University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine students, REMSA staff and community members will be assisting the Health District with this important community need and staffing the call center.

“The purpose of the Washoe County/REMSA COVID-19 Community Triage Line is to ensure people get on the correct path for the help and care they need,” said Dean Dow, president and CEO of REMSA. “This is not a replacement for true emergency medical 9-1-1 calls. The call line will give community members information, resources and access to a COVID-19 screening which will help us reduce the surge in non-emergency calls.”

Community members should call 775-328-2427. They will have three options to choose from:

  • Option 1 will connect to Washoe311 for general information regarding COVID-19 or essential/non-essential business inquiries.
  • Option 2 is for risk assessment screening that addresses symptoms, exposure and risk, and has an option to speak to a REMSA registered nurse. Read more information here.
  • Option 3 is for healthcare providers, such as hospitals, doctors, pharmacists, and referrals following completed risk assessments and/or testing.
  • Option 4 is for individuals that have received a COVID-19 test through the Washoe County Health District and are inquiring about results or scheduling.

“REMSA’s cooperation with the Health District and Washoe311 allows us to streamline our screening protocols and better assist community members regarding COVID-19,” said Kevin Dick, district health officer for the WCHD. “The call center is operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We are thankful to REMSA for stepping up to help the community.”

Community members should NOT call the Washoe County/REMSA COVID-19 Community Triage Line for appointments, prescription refills or emergencies. Information and resources are also available on the Washoe County Health District’s website. Washoe311 remains open for all non-COVID-19 related calls as well.

We’d like to thank the following media partners for helping raise awareness about the Washoe County/REMSA COVID-19 Community Triage Line: Cumulus, Entravision, Lazer Broadcasting, Lotus Radio, KOLO, KRNV, KTVN and Reno Media Group.
