REMSA Health Recognizes Local Hero with “Always Ready Award” Following Pediatric Drowning Rescue

REMSA Health recently hosted a special recognition event honoring a community member whose quick actions helped make a difference during a pediatric drowning emergency earlier this year.

In early August, REMSA Health responded to a local motel after receiving a call regarding a child who had been pulled from the water. The emergency was recognized quickly, and lifesaving measures were initiated before EMS crews arrived. Combined with the care provided by REMSA Health clinicians, those actions contributed to a positive outcome for the child and family.

The event brought together the child, family members, and members of the response team to reflect on the importance of recognizing emergencies and acting quickly when seconds matter.

“This recognition highlights the impact that everyday people can have during an emergency,” said REMSA Health President and CEO Barry Duplantis. “Being prepared to respond and willing to act can make a tremendous difference in a person’s outcome.”

The event also marked the beginning of Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month. REMSA Health hopes this story serves as a reminder that CPR training and early intervention save lives, and that anyone can become an important link in the chain of survival. Community members who register for a CPR class in October can save 25% with code: SAVEALIFE.

REMSA Health extends its gratitude to everyone whose actions contributed to this child’s recovery and continued well-being.
