REMSA Heath responds to approximately 80,000 requests for service per year in Washoe County. Every call is important to us and we follow international protocols to determine the right level of care for callers.
The Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority — REMSA — is the exclusive ground emergency medical services provider for Washoe County, Nevada and we serve an 11-state western region with our air ambulance program. We are a private, non-profit, fully-integrated, pre-hospital healthcare provider.
We have accountability to the Washoe County District Board of Health and a volunteer board of directors comprised of healthcare and business leadership from across the region. REMSA’s response times consistently meet or beat the requirements and it is renowned nationally for its quality, performance and innovation.
Community Health Programs
REMSA’s Community Health Programs create new care and referral pathways to assure patients receive the safest, and most appropriate, levels of quality care. In addition, patients discharged from the hospital with conditions such as congestive heart failure receive in-home follow-up care.

REMSA's Nurse Health Line is an Accredited Center of Excellence staff with specially-trained registered nurses available 24/7 to provide assessment, care recommendations and/or referral to the appropriate health care or community service.
Patients have access to in-home care from community paramedics after a referral from a primary care physician or other referring healthcare provider. This group of specially-trained paramedics evaluates patients and performs tasks under approved protocols.
Alternative Destination Transport program provides alternative pathways of care for 9-1-1 patients, including transport of a patient with low acuity medical conditions directly to urgent care centers and clinics, as well as other transport options.
Our Special Events team provides EMS services for more than 700 events per year, ranging from small gatherings to weeklong celebrations. This team is agile, flexible and offers specialized care and vehicles to match the needs of the event.
