Director of Clinical, Quality & Education

Position Accountabilities:
  • In coordination with the Executive Director of Integrated Health, assess and redesign the company’s pre-hospital and public health education center.
  • Identify and pursue relevant new revenue producing business opportunities through key relationships and innovative means.
  • Oversees and directs the development and planning of yearly educational and continuing education offerings.
  • Manages education and clinical staff by establishing clear expectations, goals and outcomes for each program, whiling linking them with overarching company goals.
  • In coordination with the Executive Director of Integrated Health, establishes and oversees department policies and procedures.
  • Cultivates, develops and leverages key relationships in support of the regional education and quality assurance center.
  • Ensures the organization’s adherence of CAAHEP and CoAEMSP accreditation standards and guidelines.
  • Builds strategic alliances and partnerships with hospitals and other external entities
  • Develops, reviews, researches and implements clinical and quality key performance indicators.
  • Maintains, revises and advances current CQI / QA process to compliment current trends in EMS and organizational goals.
  • Develops and maintains a department budget based on courses offered and resources needed.
  • Provide appropriate clinical counsel based on standing protocol and current medical care standards to clinical employees as appropriate.
  • Work with appropriate staff to develop performance improvement plans based on objective, identified need for clinical staff.
  • Ensures customers, students and patients receive excellent customer service and exceptional clinical patient care
  • Provides development, coaching and mentoring opportunities to subordinate leaders and employees
  • Collaborates on the development of the Paramedic, EMT and other healthcare professional programs.
  • Manages the coordination of the day-to-day activities along with the department manager for the education and clinical department.
  • Act as a liaison between higher education facilities (e.g. UNR, TMCC etc.) and the REMSA EMS programs.
  • Act as veteran certifying official for veteran students and the Veteran Affairs educational benefits programs.
  • Develops a positive team environment, where employees are proud of being a member and are supportive of one another through open communication, standards and recognition
  • Oversee and enforce policies outlined in the student handbook as related to all student issues and internal policies as it relates to departmental employees.
  • Manage and direct the coordination and instruction of public education courses.
  • Represent REMSA and the Education & CQI Department on local committees and boards in the furtherance of our programs.
  • Plans and executes public relations and marketing events in the community.
  • Maintain working knowledge of current adult education practices and current education standards.
  • Manage and direct the coordination and development of simulation-based experiences and classes for students and employees.
  • Assist with needs assessment, development and implementation of in-house educational programs.
  • Provides feedback to REMSA management to facilitate the development and continuing growth of REMSA as a regional EMS educational resource center.
  • Supports the company’s Leadership Code of Conduct through one’s own actions and encourages the same from peers.
  • Other duties and assignments as assigned.
Qualifications/ Experience Requirements:
  • Must have a minimum of (5) years experience with clinical quality assurance or healthcare education, operating in the capacity of manager or above.
  • Demonstrated track record of successes overseeing a clinical / education department is required.
  • Demonstrated track record of direct instructor experience and the coordination of programs is required.
  • A minimum of (2) years within a high-performance EMS system and/or acute healthcare setting with a focus in emergency, critical care is required.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or applicable field of study is required.
    Current Paramedic certification or Registered Nurse (RN) license with ability to obtain Nevada state licensure within required.
  • Experience coordinating and maintaining healthcare/education accreditations preferred.
  • Must be able to align strategic goals, communicate direction and rally employees behind a common mission.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills required.
  • Prior experience coordinating courses with a state agency preferred.
  • Prior experience developing new curriculum highly desirable.
  • Current or ability to obtain Nevada State EMS instructor, Advanced Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), International Trauma Life Support / Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), Healthcare provider basic life support (BLS) within (6) six months of hire is required.
